Today’s Vehicle: Renault Megane

When we spoke with the customer, we discovered a surprising reason😊
【Before the Service】A Body Covered in Contamination After a 2,000 km Journey Across Japan
A 2,000 km Round Trip from Yamaguchi to Saitama
The customer explained, “I actually had some business in Saitama, so I drove here from Yamaguchi. Since I was already making the trip, I thought I would ask GARACORT BASE to maintain my car.”
They visited our shop while taking care of their business in Saitama after driving from Yamaguchi.
The outward journey alone was approximately 1,200 km, and including the return trip, the total distance would exceed 2,000 km!
Contamination Collected While Crossing Japan
A long-distance drive, especially a journey across Japan, leaves a vehicle far dirtier than most people expect.
When we inspected the vehicle, we found the following:
Condition of the Body
A large number of dead insects across the front end
A thick layer of sand and dust covering the entire body
Oily contamination picked up from expressway driving
Rain stains and mineral water spots
Wheels heavily covered in brake dust
The customer’s greatest concern, however, was the cracking in the headlights.
When we examined the headlights closely, several fine cracks were visible.
The customer explained, “The Renault Megane is apparently well known for headlights that crack easily. Other owners even say, ‘Megane headlights are guaranteed to crack.’”
As the customer mentioned, the Megane’s headlights have a highly complex shape, which appears to make them particularly vulnerable to temperature changes and vibration, increasing the likelihood of cracking😢

【During the Service】Thorough Cleaning After the Journey Across Japan and PPF Installation
Step 1: Removing Major Contamination with a Pure-Water Hand Wash
We began with a thorough hand wash using pure water.
The Megane had travelled across Japan, collecting contamination from many different regions between Kyushu and Kanto.
Important Points of Our Pure-Water Hand Wash
🧽 Pure Water
We use mineral-free pure water to help prevent new water spots from forming.
🧽 Gentle Removal of Dead Insects
The large number of insects covering the front of the vehicle were carefully removed using a dedicated cleaner.
🧽 Careful Hand Washing
To avoid damaging Renault’s delicate paintwork, we washed the vehicle carefully using soft microfiber cloths.
As the washing progressed, heavily contaminated water continued to flow away from the vehicle🧼
The customer watched part of the process and commented:
“I didn’t realize it was this dirty… but it already looks much cleaner!”
Step 2: Detailed Cleaning of Every Area
Next, we carried out detailed cleaning.
We treated areas that are difficult to reach during an ordinary wash, including:
Gaps in the front grille
Areas around the door handles
Bases of the side mirrors
Gaps within the wheels
Areas surrounding the emblems
We carefully cleaned all these detailed areas using dedicated brushes and cloths🔍
The Renault emblem has a particularly three-dimensional design, making it easy for contamination to accumulate in the gaps. We therefore cleaned it especially thoroughly.
Step 3: Thorough Mineral Scale and Water Spot Removal
We used a dedicated scale remover to eliminate stubborn water spots and mineral deposits that could not be removed through ordinary washing.
The body had collected various water spots from rainfall during the long-distance journey and washing at motorway service areas.
Using dedicated chemicals, we carefully removed the contamination over time💧
Step 4: Protection with a GARACORT Finishing Treatment
Once all contamination had been removed, we completed the service with a GARACORT finishing treatment.
By applying a coating containing glass-based ingredients, we achieved the following benefits:

Cleaning and Degreasing the Headlights
Before applying the PPF, we thoroughly cleaned and degreased the headlight surfaces.
Cutting the Gray PPF
The Megane’s headlights have an extremely complex three-dimensional shape. We precisely cut the PPF to match this shape.
Preparing the Installation Solution
We prepared the dedicated solution used during PPF installation.
Applying the PPF
We carefully applied the gray PPF across the complex curved surfaces of the headlights.
Installation Difficulty
The Megane’s headlights have an exceptionally complex three-dimensional shape.
Rather than being flat, they consist of multiple overlapping curves.
Applying PPF across this shape without wrinkles or air bubbles requires highly advanced technical skill.
Using a heat gun to soften the film, we gradually and carefully formed it around each curved section🔧
Edge Finishing
We carefully finished the edges of the film to reduce the likelihood of lifting.
Checking for Bubbles and Wrinkles
Finally, we thoroughly inspected the film for any remaining bubbles or wrinkles.
We checked the installation repeatedly to ensure the best possible result👀
【After the Service】The Effects of the Journey Across Japan Were Completely Gone!
Once every service was complete, it was time to return the vehicle to the customer.

本日も当店のコラムをご覧いただきありがとうございます。今回は、なんと山口県山口市から日本を横断してお越しいただいた、ルノー メガーヌオーナー様への施工事例をご紹介いたします 🙌
本日の施工車両：ルノー メガーヌ
今回ご来店いただいたのは、山口県山口市からお越しのお客様。愛車はフランスの自動車メーカー・ルノーが誇るハッチバック「メガーヌ」です。
メガーヌといえば、ヨーロッパで高い人気を誇るCセグメントハッチバック。洗練されたフレンチデザインと、欧州車らしいしっかりとした走り、そして独特の個性で、日本でも熱心なファンを持つモデルです 🇫🇷
山口市から熊谷市まで…なんと直線距離でも約1000km、実際の走行距離では約1,200km以上！
関東まで、まさに日本を横断する大旅行です。
「なぜ、山口から埼玉まで？」
お客様にお話を伺うと、驚きの理由がありました 😊

「実は、用事があって山口から埼玉まで車で来たんです。せっかくだから、GARACORTBASEさんで愛車をメンテナンスしてもらおうと思って」

日本横断で付着した汚れ
長距離ドライブ、それも日本を縦断する旅となると、想像以上に車は汚れます。
お車を拝見すると、
ボディの状態
そして、お客様が最も心配されていたのが、ヘッドライトのクラック（ひび割れ）でした。
ヘッドライトをよく見ると、細かいひび割れが複数箇所に…。
「実は、ルノーのメガーヌって、ヘッドライトが割れやすいって有名なんです。オーナー仲間でも『メガーヌは100％ヘッドライトが割れる』って言われてるくらいで…」
お客様がそうおっしゃる通り、メガーヌのヘッドライトは、その複雑な形状ゆえに、温度変化や振動の影響を受けやすく、クラックが発生しやすいという問題があるようです 😢

特に最後のヘッドライトPPFについて、詳しくご説明させていただきました。
ヘッドライトPPFのメリット
🔹 クラックの進行を防ぐ PPF（ペイントプロテクションフィルム）でヘッドライトを覆うことで、既存のクラックが広がるのを防ぎます。
🔹 飛び石から保護 今後の走行で飛び石がヘッドライトに当たっても、PPFが保護してくれます。
🔹 見た目の変化 グレーのPPFを施工することで、ヘッドライトがスモーク調になり、スタイリッシュな印象に。
🔹 高額な交換を回避 ヘッドライト本体の交換に比べて、はるかに低コストで保護できます。

【施工中】日本横断の汚れを徹底クリーニング＆PPF施工
ステップ1：純水手洗い洗車で大まかな汚れを除去
まず最初に行うのが、純水による徹底的な手洗い洗車です。
日本を横断してきたメガーヌには、九州から関東まで、様々な地域の汚れが付着しています。
純水手洗い洗車のポイント
🧽 純水使用 ミネラル分を除去した純水で、新たな水シミを防ぎます。
🧽 虫の死骸も優しく除去 フロント部分にびっしりと付着した虫の死骸も、専用クリーナーで優しく除去。
🧽 丁寧な手洗い ルノーの繊細な塗装を傷つけないよう、柔らかいマイクロファイバークロスで丁寧に洗います。
洗車を進めるにつれて、汚れた水がどんどん流れ落ちていきます 🧼
お客様にも途中経過を見ていただきましたが、
「こんなに汚れていたんですね…でも、もうかなりキレイになってきた！」
と驚かれていました。
ステップ2：細部洗浄で隅々までキレイに
次に、細部洗浄を行います。
通常の洗車では届きにくい、
こうした細かい部分も、専用ブラシやクロスを使用して、丁寧に洗浄していきます 🔍
特にルノーのエンブレムは立体的なデザインなので、隙間に汚れが溜まりやすい部分。念入りに洗浄します。
ステップ3：水垢除去でスケールを徹底除去
洗車では落ちない頑固な水垢（スケール）も、専用のスケール除去剤で除去します。
長距離ドライブ中に降った雨や、SAでの洗車の際についた水シミなど、ボディ表面には様々な水垢が付着していました。
専用薬剤を使用し、時間をかけて丁寧に除去していきます 💧
ステップ4：ガラコート仕上げで保護
すべての汚れを除去した後は、ガラコート仕上げです。
ガラス系成分を含むコーティング剤を塗布することで、
🔹 艶と輝きが増す メガーヌの美しいボディカラーが、さらに際立ちます。
🔹 撥水効果 雨水を弾き、汚れが付きにくくなります。
🔹 保護膜を形成 塗装面を保護し、今後の劣化を防ぎます。
コーティング剤を均一に塗布し、美しく仕上げます ✨
ステップ5：ヘッドライトPPF（グレー）施工
そして、今回のメインとなるヘッドライトPPF施工です。

施工の難しさ
メガーヌのヘッドライトは、非常に複雑な3D形状をしています。
平面ではなく、何層にも重なった複雑な曲面。
この形状にPPFをシワや気泡なく貼るのは、非常に高度な技術が必要です。
ヒートガン（熱風機）でフィルムを柔らかくしながら、少しずつ、丁寧に、曲面に沿わせていきます 🔧
完璧を期して、何度も確認します 👀

すべての施工が完了し、お客様にお車をお渡しする時間がやってきました。
