This time, we would like to introduce a matte black rewrapping project for the roof and B-pillars of a Mercedes-Benz CLS brought to us by a customer from Yorii, Saitama Prefecture✨

【Customer Request】

The customer, who visited us from Yorii, Saitama Prefecture, owns a Mercedes-Benz CLS.

They contacted us saying, “The matte black wrap that was originally applied to the roof has started to deteriorate. I would like to have it removed and wrapped beautifully again.”

When we inspected the vehicle, we found that the existing matte wrap had significantly deteriorated due to ultraviolet exposure, causing noticeable changes in both its surface texture and color💦

Matte films create an extremely stylish appearance, but they are also susceptible to UV rays, rain, and wind. Over time, they may develop a whitish appearance, uneven coloring, or a rough surface.

For this project, we carefully removed the deteriorated existing wrap and rewrapped the roof in matte black.

To create a more unified overall appearance, we also wrapped the B-pillars in matching matte black🖤

【Condition Before Installation】

We began by carefully inspecting the vehicle.

The Mercedes-Benz CLS is an attractive vehicle known for its flowing roofline and elegant, premium design🚗

However, the matte black wrap previously installed on the roof had deteriorated due to ultraviolet exposure and had lost its original texture.

The surface showed fading and dullness, which weakened the sharp and refined appearance normally created by matte black💦

Because the roof receives more direct sunlight than most other parts of the vehicle, wrapping film tends to deteriorate more quickly in this area.

The B-pillars were also left in their original finish, which created less visual continuity with the roof. Wrapping them in matte black would give the entire vehicle a more balanced appearance.

We therefore carefully removed the existing film and refinished the areas with new matte black wrapping film💪

【Removing the Existing Wrapping Film】

We began by removing the deteriorated existing wrapping film.

If deteriorated film is removed forcefully, it can leave behind a large amount of adhesive or place unnecessary stress on the painted surface💦

We therefore monitored the condition of the film, carefully controlled the temperature, and removed it gradually.

On a large panel such as the roof, the ease of removal can vary significantly depending on the level of deterioration.

We took our time and worked carefully to minimize stress on the paintwork🔥

【Removing Adhesive Residue and Contamination】

After removing the existing film, we carefully cleaned away the remaining adhesive and contamination.

Proper surface preparation before applying new film is extremely important for achieving a clean wrapping finish.

If adhesive or contamination remains on the surface, it can cause unevenness, lifting, or poor film adhesion💦

Using dedicated cleaning products, we thoroughly reset and cleaned the roof surface🧼

Properly preparing the surface significantly improves both the adhesion and finished appearance of the new matte black film✨

【Matte Black Roof Rewrapping】

Once the surface preparation was complete, we applied new matte black film to the roof.

The film was carefully positioned to follow the roofline of the CLS and installed cautiously to prevent wrinkles or lifting💪

Matte black has a distinctive low-gloss texture that gives the entire vehicle a sportier and more refined appearance🖤

However, matte film has a delicate surface texture and requires careful handling during installation.

Excessive stretching or pressure can create unevenness in the texture, so we carefully balanced the film tension and pressure throughout the installation.

Every detail was inspected to ensure a consistent matte finish across the entire roof✨

【Matte Black B-Pillar Wrapping】

Next, we wrapped the B-pillars in matte black.

The B-pillars have a significant influence on the appearance of the area around the doors.

By matching them to the matte black roof, we created a more unified side profile and gave the entire vehicle a sharper appearance🖤

Although the B-pillars are relatively small components, finishing details like these can significantly improve the overall quality of the vehicle’s appearance.

We carefully checked the positioning and edge treatment to create a clean and natural finish✨

【Edge Treatment and Detailed Finishing】

After installing the wrapping film, we completed the edge treatment.

We closely inspected curved areas and sections where the film edges could be more likely to lift, ensuring that everything was securely bonded.

Because the roof and pillars are regularly exposed to rain, wind, and water pressure during washing, proper edge treatment is extremely important💡

Carefully finishing every detail not only improves the appearance but also helps prevent the film from lifting.

Finally, we inspected the overall texture and installation condition to ensure a natural finish without any visual irregularities🔍

Once the work was complete, we showed the finished vehicle to the customer.

By removing the UV-damaged roof wrap and installing new matte black film, we restored the roof’s sharp and refined appearance✨
